My Favorite Movies #8

"Will you be my girlfriend?" Oskar asks. "I'm not a girl," Eli replies.

'Let the Right One In' is a lyrical, haunting ode to youth, loneliness, and love. At the film's heart, it is the story of a bullied little boy named Oskar who finds solace in his friendship with the new girl, named Eli, who isn't what she appears to be. These two broken souls find their missing parts in each other, and this dark tale winds toward the only conclusion it could possibly have. The child actors do amazing work with roles that are awash with emotion and carry the movie, almost completely by themselves. 'Right One' is violent, spare, but beautiful and poignant, and is the best vampire movie ever made.
