BEASTIE BOYS BOOK Quick Cut Review

I can't really express how much I loved this book. The Audible version is, very simply, the pinnacle of the audiobook medium. The Beastie Boys themselves (along with friends such as Will Ferrell, Wanda Sykes, Jon Stewart, and dozens of others) tell the story of the band from snot-nosed NYC punk rockers to Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, with all the warts and triumphs in between. It is hilarious, heart breaking, and fascinating - the stories they tell about the characters in their lives are even better than the breakdowns of all their albums. Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond are immensely talented on the stage and with the written word, so this isn't some hack book by musicians trying to be writers. Their love of life shines through, even when detailing the band's missteps and the loss of MCA (Adam Yauch). I have rarely been more entertained, and have never yearned harder for more Beastie Boys music. If you love the band, love the process of making music, or would just enjoy hearing life-long friends tell stories, this is a must-listen. A 10 all the way.
